Jesters

In myth the unsung hero is depicted as the archetype who overcomes all odds in the pursuit of social justice.  The jester can be symbolic of common sense and honesty, a characteristic used for insight and advice on the part of the monarch. Taking advantage of license to mock and speak freely, the jester dispensed frank observations to highlight the folly of the monarch.  In the Jester Series I am using this archetype to narrate the political and social constructs of the nuclear age when total global annihilation seemed possible. The buffoonery of the nuclear arms race, propagated by contemporary “monarchs,” is alluded to in these narratives.
